The connection between the body and the mind is well known and studied for many years. Our mental and emotional state affects the physical and vice versa. When we exercise, hormones that make us feel good are released. When we feel burnout at work, we experience physical exhaustion and sometimes pain, or sleep or eating disorders, and these are just a few examples of the close and complex relationship between the body and the mind. Research shows that most of the diseases of the 20th century are caused by stress and burnout. Hence, in order to heal and strengthen ourselves we must take care of both our body and our mind.
The body is one of the most powerful tools we use in our life. Many times, our body “speak” before we know what we feel or think. I personally, have not listened to my body for many years, suffered from various senses and pains, ignored them and moved on.
In recent years, mainly through alternative medicine of various kinds, I became to know my body better, I began to treat it and today I listen to it more. It does not mean I do everything it tells me … but I try.
Over the years, I have learned and practiced a various body-mind methods that have helped me, my children and my patients, to cope and heal a variety of diseases, chronic pain and even depression.
