When I was a little girl, my dream was to become an actress. So perhaps I did not entirely fulfil my dream, but I have certainly played many characters on the stage of my life, some of which were real and some of which were fake. The acting in my life had assisted me, many times, in surviving difficult crisis in life, and the roles which I had played in my life had assisted me, quite often, in wearing the appropriate masks and playing the game. Today, I am busy removing the masks which have covered me through the years, but I shall always require a mask or two for a particular role which I wish to play.
In group work, the psychodrama allows the participants to speak with the various characters within them, to get acquainted with the masks which they bring with themselves to the various relationships. Using game drills, we learn to get to know ourselves better, find various ways with which to tell the story of our lives, and discover possibilities to manage a new discourse, with ourselves and others.
Someone smart had once said: “We did not stop playing because we had gotten older; we have gotten older, because we stopped playing…”
